God’s Love is Active.

God’s presence and love really feel wonderful. But God’s love is much more than warm fuzzies. God’s Love is dynamic. Wherever it is there is the corresponding. action. God’s love is a great motivator. God’s love is active.

I recall Psalms 136. In it, every act of God listed was connected to His loving kindness. In Matt. 14:14 we see Jesus moved with compassion and healing the sick. Of course, John 3:16 tells of God’s love for the world and what action He did because of that love…nothing less than JESUS.

If one has the love of God that person wants to express it towards others. I personally thank God for all of His people who have demonstrated God’s love for me through their many kindnesses.

God loves you. Embrace that love and love others ACTIVELY.

God’s Love is Faithful.

We humans deeply desire faithful love. But we find so much disappointment as human love can be so unfaithful. Probably we have all experienced the hurt of loss in our love lives. And it is not only the other persons in our relationships but we too fail. We mean well but we fail. Often we expect the same human falure from God that we experienced from humans. But God’s love is faithful.

Why is it faithful? How can it be faithful? His love is faithful because love is His very nature. 1 John 4:8 God is Love. If it is your very nature to love it is very easy to love faithfully.

In Psalms 136 we see a chronicling of God’s faithful love for the Children of Israel. He had them remind themselves of His goodness and faithfulness. We too need to remind ourselves of His faithfulness to us and His love for us.

God is so serious about His love relationships with His people that He makes BLOOD Covenants with them. The New Covenant is in Jesus’s blood. It does not get more serious with God than that. In this new covenant, His love is shed abroad in our lives, He gives us new life and character. He gives us love and peace. He gives us health and success. His love is faithful. He will not turn His back on His covenant promises written in Jesus’s precious blood.

We can count on His love being faithful.

Knowing God’s Love

It is vitally important to know God’s love. How can you know? You can see it in scriptures. Time after time God demonstrates His love for His people. Ultimately in John 3:16-17 we see that His love was for the whole world. He gave Jesus to save and not condemn, which would have been within His rights.

Knowing about God’s love is important but there is more. As you prayerfully study the Word God will give you revelation of His love. And beyond that, as you walk in fellowship with Him you will experience His love. It is wonderful, and vital to our walk with God.

If we know God’s love is active and faithful and directed to us we have less trouble believing His promises. If we know His Word is written to us in love we have less trouble being obedient.

Knowing God’s love is key to a successful Christian life.

Rejoice in the Goodness of God’s Love.

Our God is so good. In the last few blogs, we covered God’s love as faithful and tough. We know God’s love is active, not passive.  Enjoy reading Ps. 136 and John 3:16. They prove that God’s love is active. He never passively loves. His kind of love motivates action.

Seek the scriptures and you will soon find example after example of God’s love. Of course, the ultimate example of His love is the sacrifice at Calvary. But throughout history including New Testament history God’s love all over the place. He raised the dead. He healed the sick. He fed the hungry. He saved his disciples from the stormy sea. He saved Daniel from the lions, the three Hebrew children from the fiery furnace. And so much more! Now as Christians we have a new life in us, His life. We have his kind of love in us. It just gets better and better. God loves me and God loves you. Rejoice in the goodness of God’s love.

God’s Love is Tough.

As we consider the goodness of God and the greatness of His creation, we often feel a great affection for Him. I love the feeling I get when He manifests His love. He loves us and is kindly disposed to us. But there is much more to God’s love than those “warm fuzzies” we sometimes feel.

One feature of God’s love is toughness. Love is tough? Oh Yeah! Consider this part of Paul’s description of Love.

“Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud. Never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong.” 1 Cor 13:4-5 NIV

Think of that in the context of our lives. The love we are loved with and which we are to love must have power, character, and toughness to be able to act in these ways. Consider Jesus, our example.   In John 1 we see that through Him the world was made and when He came as man He was unrecognized and unaccepted. Yet He went about doing good, until that ultimate expression of love on the cross. How strong a love must be for that!

If God’s love is faithful as we learned last week and if His love is tough, we are in a very good place as believers.  Grace and Peace.
